How to Obtain Trade License in Bangladesh
Every business entity in Bangladesh requires official permission from the Dhaka City Corporation or the relevant office of the city government (Union Parishad, Pouroshava, upozilla or zillaparishad) to operate. This authorization is given in the form of a commercial license.
To obtain a business license in Bangladesh, the legal basis for this requirement is found in the Dhaka City Corporation Ordinance, 1983 and the Municipal Tax Rules, 1986. It is illegal to operate business without a license. To successfully obtain a business license, the entrepreneur must use the appropriate application form and apply for the license at the competent authority office. For example, Dhaka City Corporation is divided into North and South parts.
Applicants will need to select the correct form based on the region where the business is located.
